Instant coffee may be the shameful go-to for a student's survival, but it also creates interesting tonal variation, splatters and marks. The rich colour, the way it reticulates and how it entices the artist to surrender to chance while it moves and dries on the paper. These experimental works were created at the beginning of lockdown using everyday materials, when the domestic environment became the main source of inspiration.
